HILARIOUS CHINA !!! (Part 1)

Hi Guys, Happy Holi...It's 18th March (Friday), Festival of Colours. Wishing every one of you a Happy Holi.

Today, I am feeling a bit lazy, with nothing much to do, not exactly a fan of Holi so just sitting in one corner with my laptop and writing this blog.

As I was lying on my bed I was thinking about all my hilarious moments in China. You visit a new country and you encounter many things and experience different kinds of behaviour. Although, they weren't funny at that moment, now that I think about it, they are absolutely hilarious. Thus the name, Hilarious China !!!

HILARIOUS CHINA-PART 1

THE CARTOON GIRL

It was a peaceful evening, I was sitting right outside my Campus Library, practising my Mandarin writing skills. The weather was cool, so I was just enjoying my time, appreciating the beauty of the campus and completing my work. My campus is completely surrounded by trees so it gets dark pretty soon, and even though there are lampposts at every nook and corner, the light is limited to a certain radius. I didn't know what time it was, I had left my phone in my dorm room and I wanted to go to the canteen for dinner. I couldn't see any of the students on the campus street. I took all my belongings and I was walking towards the canteen when I finally saw a student standing beneath the lamppost.

Now, I have seen many Chinese students who sometimes just stand in a corner and keep on rambling stuff with full focus on their books. This was exam time for those Chinese students who lived on our campus, so finding a student cramming for her exam was not an unusual sight.

I was confident with my Mandarin speaking skills so I just thought I will go and ask her what time is it. I approached her and said, "对不起,你能告诉我现在几点了吗?" (Excuse me, can you tell me what time is it?). She was facing the lamppost and she turned towards me, and I was horrified. That day I knew, that if there is a zombie apocalypse, I am gonna die first cause my adrenaline rush made me freeze at that same spot....not fight...not flight...just freeze...My hormone isn't "Fight or Flight" Hormone it is "Freeze or Frost" Hormone.

So you must be wondering, what was so horrifying about that Chinese student? Let me tell you what was wrong with her. Have you seen those cartoons in which to keep themselves awake, they stick tape, one end on their eyelids, the other on their forehead? This helped those cartoons from not having drooping eyelids which made them feel sleepy. It was all fun and comedy in those cartoons. Especially Tom n Jerry. I have seen such a thing in Tom n Jerry, so if you know what I am talking about, that Chinese student was wearing something similar. Two white pieces of tape on each eyelid stretched till her forehead and made her eyes bulge out of the socket, which was already red due to all that dim-light reading beneath the lamppost. She looked at me and replied, "什么?" (What?).

I couldn't hear her, I was all numb, I fell down, she was coming close, which now that I think with a calm mind must be to help me with my books which fell on the ground. As soon as I got my senses back, I screamed at the top of my voice, took all my books and ran as fast as I could and didn't stop till I reached the canteen. I cried a bit on my way, it felt as if I just saved my life from some monster.

I ate some fruits in the canteen, cause honestly, I had lost my appetite. I met one of my friends and I went back with her to the dormitory, because I was scared to go alone. I felt embarrassed and wanted to apologise to that girl, but I had no clue who she was. I never told this story to the rest of my friends, but I am telling this to you all now.

I can easily laugh it off now, but that day I was so scared that I almost considered myself dead. I think, now you know why I call this whole incident "The Cartoon Girl". I hope whenever I return back to China, I will try to find that student and confront her about the whole incident and maybe apologise as well.

Many such things happened to me during my six months of stay in China. Share this story with your friends and family. That's all for today, I will be back with more such stories and incidences in my next blog.

Thank you guys for reading this!!
